Ranchers Putting Pressure on the Feds to Kill Wolves – by Nakoowolf
It is like reading a chapter out of the Nicholas Evans novel, The Loop. Angry ranchers and landowners packed the city-county building in Livingston, Montana. Ed Bangs, US Fish and Wildlife recovery leader played the role of the sacrificial lamb. Under current law, a rancher must catch a wolf actually attacking livestock before he is able to kill it. Mr. Bangs was explaining that new rules are under construction for ranchers to be able to kill wolves that were spotted near their livestock. It appeared the ranchers minds had already been made up as they walked into the meeting. They called Mr. Bangs names, such as Frankenstein and liar, and demanded that they be allowed as landowners to kill a Wolf whenever they see one.
The meeting ended with Mr. Bangs explaining that the FWS was eager to delist wolves, but all three states Montana, Idaho and Wyoming needed to draft a satisfactory plan.
