Spring brings birthdays at Wolf Howl Animal Preserve. Wa-ta-chee and Ohoyo turned 13 this year. Niko Akni and Woha turned 11. We had a very calm party for them where they were served vanilla ice cream, their favorite and mini cupcakes. I usually bring in balloons but the Wolves who enjoyed those are no longer with us, so this year we decided to just let them eat. I had my camera set up on a tripod which made Wa-ta-chee nervous so he didn’t eat until I took the camera out! They are getting old and extremely set in their ways.
About a week after the party, I cooked them a bacon cheeseburger pizza which they absolutely loved so I think I will make that a regular treat for them. I sliced it in bite size pieces and handed them out. All of them were jumping up for more.
They are getting up there in years. I intend on making each day count. I give treats more often and spend lots of time giving belly rubs. Right now they are blowing their undercoats so each Wolf gets time getting finger combed. They are truly amazing spirits and we have been through so much together.
