In Memory of ShilohOnce in a while there is that special Dog who enters your life and settles deeply into your Heart. Our friend and devoted member, Adrian “Mack” McNeill, had such a dog and her name was Shiloh. Mack would make me laugh with stories of how he bought her a treadmill because the Vet thought she could lose a few pounds. I loved hearing about the time he bought her a very expensive gourmet dog food advertised as caviar for dogs and she turned her nose up on it. Mack, a retired Army Veteran, and Shiloh lived happily together for many years settled in their little routines, both content with their best friends. Shiloh was 12 years old when Mac was advised after a futile medical fight that she was no longer comfortable. He did what only a true friend could and held her in his arms as she was gently escorted from her pain. My heart goes out to him. I know he loved her and I’m positive she felt the same about him. I always say that canines just live long enough to burn a place in our souls and then they are gone and it feels so hollow. I firmly believe that Mack and Shiloh will meet again. Until then, my wish is that only the happy memories will be there for him soon. Shiloh |
