Two Amazing Men and what they have done for our Wolves – by Maria Ferguson
Since the arrival of our Adult Wolves, Wa-ta-chee, Ohoyo and Waya, there have been many supporters, too numerous to name in this short article. We appreciate and are absolutely in awe of their generous spirits. Of these supporters, there are two names that continually surface on our contributor's lists. These two fantastic men are Jerry Martin of Louisiana and Adrian “Mack” McNeill of Maryland. They have gone way beyond the call of duty in helping to support our Wolves and our cause. They both made me cry this past month and not of sorrow but of joy. In our Wish List, we had asked for some rather high-ticket items such as doghouses and crates for the pups. Jerry didn’t hesitate to respond and before I knew it, the pups had four new dog houses set up in their temporary enclosure and the rest of the shade cloth that we needed to finish the isolation area for the pups transition into the main enclosure. He also sent 40lbs of treats, Kongs for all the canines, Kong treats and biscuit balls. We even received items we didn’t ask for from him that will come in most handy on heartworm preventative day, pill pockets. Mack surprised me with the purchase of a crate that came just in time for the pup’s fourth visit to the Veterinarian. They rode in style. He also sent over 100 pounds of breakfast bones (Milk Bones) for the Wolf kids. Each of these Men cares deeply for animals. Jerry has rescued both dogs and cats in large numbers. Mack shares his life with Shiloh a Shepherd who is spoiled rotten and a turtle that lives the good life. They both have adopted all of our Wolves. Jerry has a fence sign in honor of each of his canine companions who has passed away. Mack has 5 signs and he tells me his goal is to purchase 5 more. Each Man has ordered items from our Gift Shop.
I don’t know how to thank them enough and I hope that they both realize how much their generosity is appreciated by not only me but the Wolves as well. Our Wolves absolutely love when I bring them new things. I adore you two, Jerry Martin and Mack McNeill and think of you with only the highest regard.
A Primitive Song – by Maria Ferguson
The settling sun has brought coolness to the day,
I sit myself down in the rocker to gaze at the amazing
I think of the time that it was only a notion
Waya begins to howl, Ohoyo and Watach soon join in.
Their heads raised back in a primitive song.
I hear the ancient drums of the ones who cared for
I think of how proud they would be of two souls
Wado, Jerry and Mack. I love you guys!
