Troopers Investigating Deaths of Wolves - by Nakoowolf
Federal law makes it illegal to hunt any animal, including Wolves from an airplane. State law prohibits hunting Wolves on the same day the hunter has been airborne. The Alaskan Department of Fish and Game are conducting a predator control program in the McGrath region, which allows for aerial hunting of Wolves and Bears. Alaskan State Troopers noticed suspicious ski plane tracks located close to wolf tracks in the Swift River region, which is much further south of McGrath. Their prompt investigation revealed several wolf kill sites. The carcasses they found on the ground reveal that the wolves were killed in violation of the state’s law regarding same day airborne hunting. The Troopers have made proper identification of the hunter and have seized his plane. Bravo!
