Wild Turkey Male
This male Wild Turkey chooses to live at Wolf Howl Animal Preserve. Male Turkeys are about 4' tall. They are dusky brown, barred with black, with iridescent bronze sheen; head and neck naked, with bluish and reddish wattles; tail fan-shaped, with chestnut, buff, or white tail tips. Male has spurs and long "beard" on breast. Our dogs woke us up just in time to see this Turkey displaying and dancing for a female. It is March 26, 2004 and mating season for the Wild Turkey has begun. Picture by Maria Ferguson
