The Idaho Department of Fish and Game have authorized four outfitters and their licensed guides to kill as many as five wolves each in the Lolo Zone this spring.
Remember all those nauseating articles regarding wolves and elk decline? Remember all the information that came out not only disputing but disproving that wolves were responsible? As a matter of fact the biggest drop of one unit's elk population occurred before wolves were reintroduced. The Lolo Hunting Zone did not meet the set quota of killing wolves.
The power of the media and how to $way politics. IMO.
"Idaho Fish and Game is considering to allow outfitters to kill 20 more wolves in the Lolo zone using methods such as baiting and trapping.
The American Veterinarian Association, American Animal Hospital Association, World Veterinary Association and National Animal Control Association, all agree that leg-hold traps are inhumane.
You can stop this brutality by contacting the Idaho Fish and Game Commission before June 15 to oppose and ban trapping.
It should also be mentioned that The Spokesman-Review on Feb.17, 2010, (Elusive Target), published Idaho Fish and Game’s own data showing that since the first wolf pack was documented in 1998 the elk count increased in the St. Joe area from 1,735 to 2,145 by February 2009."
