Another summer is here. It’s not the Wolves favorite season. They become pretty lazy except for early in the morning and very late at night. They do have tons of shade in their enclosure. They also have outdoor fans that we utilize when the temps go over 90. Niko Akni usually takes his afternoon naps in the cool den while the girls and Wa-ta-chee prefer to lie under the trees at the back of their enclosure. Ohoyo lies next to them with only the fence separating her from the rest of the pack. In the evening you can see them up on the platform and the top of their stone den.
We have been busy conducting tours, mowing grass that seems to grow over night and of course, packing orders. We tried a new object for a recent scent rolling demonstration during a tour. I took an old sock and had all the people in the tour rub their scent on it. It was a big hit with the Wolves. They just loved getting to smell the visitors at closer range without having to be afraid of them. Next time I do this for a tour; I’ll try and remember to take a video.
I put together some short videos I took during the month. Everyone is doing well as you can see.
